Stirling Properties Celebrates Team Members at Annual Stirling Honors Event

On Thursday, March 27, Stirling Properties hosted the company’s annual Stirling Honors meeting and recognition luncheon at Rosy’s Jazz Hall in New Orleans. Stirling Honors is a day to honor the hard work and dedication of the entire Stirling Team and to award Commercial Production Awards and Service Awards. Keynote Speaker Scott Aiges, Director of Programs, Marketing & Communications of the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation, spoke about the Foundation’s mission and all of the programs offered in the areas of education, economic development and cultural enrichment. The day’s events also included performances by students and faculty from The Don Jamison Heritage School of Music, the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation’s principal music education program. Stirling Properties was pleased to present Mr. Aiges with a donation to the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Foundation to help in their efforts to support New Orleans’ education, economy and culture. Commercial Award recipients received recognition for Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum, Diamond and Ruby production levels based on individual Adjusted Gross Commission numbers for 2013. Included in the awards were special recognitions given to Rhonda Sharkawy, Senior Retail Leasing and Development Executive in the New Orleans office, for the Most Transactions and Top Agent. Also recognized was Seth Citron, Sales and Leasing Executive in the Lafayette office, for having the highest production level improvement over the previous year.

Also recognized were employees who achieved special anniversaries with the company. Service Awards were given to 5, 10, 15, 20 and 25 year milestones.

ACREcon Keynote Presentation

Last week I traveled to Birmingham to deliver the keynote address at ACREcon, the annual conference hosted by the Alabama Center for Real Estate (ACRE).  ACRE is a well-organized, statewide commercial real estate group and I was honored to be asked to speak at their event.  I was very impressed with the meeting and the record-setting attendance.

During the presentation, I introduced myself and Stirling Properties to many in the ACREcon audience who weren’t familiar with us and discussed our decision to open an office in Mobile – our first in Alabama.  Emphasizing the importance of regionalism, I also discussed the rise of the Gulf Coast into the National spotlight and the significant economic drivers that are shaping the region’s future growth.

Earlier this week we announced that Stirling Properties was awarded the contract for Leasing, Sales, and Property and Construction Management for Perkins Rowe. Our entire team is thrilled to work on such a high-profile property in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. The future opportunities at Perkins Rowe are very bright and we are excited to be moving forward in all aspects of Perkins Rowe – Retail, Office, Apartments and Condominiums. It hardly seems possible that we are beginning another year. It seems as if I was just emailing about the start of “Lucky 13“!

“Lucky 13” kicked off with our announcement of a joint venture with CBL & Associates Properties, Inc. to develop Fremaux Town Center in Slidell, Louisiana, and in just 2 months, we will have the grand opening of Phase I. The year ended with the successful closing of the land acquisition and development financing for Magnolia Marketplace in New Orleans, a partnership with JCH Development that will break ground this month.

In between those 2013 bookends, we also accomplished:

As proud as I am of our team for all of these accomplishments and more, I am even more proud of the spirit of team and caring for others. Through the leadership of the Stirling Stewardship Committee, the Stirling team significantly contributed money, essential items, and most importantly generously volunteered their personal time for causes such as Habitat for Humanity, food collection drives, breast cancer walks, YMCA Corporate Cup and Volunteers of America’s Christmas Wish Project.

It is because of this talented, dedicated, and motivated team that we are able to achieve so much. I am proud to be part of such a team. Looking ahead to 2014, it will be a very exciting year for Stirling as well as the Gulf South.

Stirling Properties Participates Company-Wide in Volunteers of America’s Christmas Wish Project

Employees and agents of Stirling Properties teamed up to donate Christmas presents, food baskets and other essential items to Volunteers of America’s Christmas Wish Project.  Stirling’s Stewardship Committee organized the company-wide event by partnering with Volunteers of America in Greater New Orleans, Greater Baton Rouge, and Northwest Louisiana to serve the New Orleans Northshore and Southshore, Baton Rouge, Lafayette, and Shreveport-Bossier City.

“Volunteers of America is an inspiration for us all to give back to our communities. This was truly an amazing and heartwarming effort by the Stirling Team and will make this Christmas better for the many people served by the Christmas Wish Project,” stated Marty Mayer, President and CEO of Stirling Properties.

Stirling Golf Tournament Raises Money for Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center

Stirling Properties’ 13th Annual Stirling Invitational Golf Tournament raised $10,000 for Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center. The scramble-style golf tournament hosted by Stirling Properties was held Monday, October 28th at University Club in Baton Rouge where generous contributions from sponsors and over 125 golfers helped to make the event a success.

Grady Brame, Executive Vice President of Stirling Properties, presented the donation to Todd Stevens, President and CEO of Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center, during an awards celebration following the tournament.

“Due to the generosity of our tournament sponsors, we are able to once again this year donate to an organization that does so much good work for the people in our region,” said Brame.

Stirling Properties has been able to make over $106,000 in charitable contributions to various organizations over the past 13 years with Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Center being the charitable recipient of the majority of the tournament proceeds. Since 2004, $97,000 has been donated to the center in support of their cancer research and care-giving efforts.
