Stirling Stewardship Supports Crawfishman Triathlon
Last Sunday, May 4th, was the 31st edition of the Crawfishman Triathlon produced and directed by Mark Salvetti, our Director of Project Management. We are proud of Mark for his efforts in organizing such a great event and are so happy to support such a good cause!
The Crawfishman Triathlon consists of a 1,000-yard swim, an 18-mile bike ride and a 4-mile run, with nearly 360 athletes competing in this year’s event. The event takes place in the Grande Hills Estates subdivision north of Covington in Bush, Louisiana. Many people volunteer their time to make the event possible, and several volunteers from Stirling Properties joined the effort this year.
Every year the race proceeds are donated to two main organizations, Have a Heart Thru Art and the Mary Bird Perkins Cancer Research Center. Donations this year are expected to be similar to past years when $10,000 or more was raised. Since the inception of the race, over $100,000 in donations have been made to individuals in need as well as many local organizations.
Mark your calendars – next year’s date is Sunday May 3, 2015….the Second Sunday of Jazz Fest.

Stirling Properties is pleased to announce the development of a new full-service Walgreens drugstore in Metairie, Louisiana. The proposed Walgreens will be located at the intersection of Veterans Boulevard and Power Boulevard in the Barlon Plaza Shopping Center. The new store will be a ground-up relocation of the existing Walgreens that is currently within the center.
“This project is a culmination of many months of hard work and a strong partnership between Walgreens, the landowners, Stirling Properties, and Jefferson Parish. This is the way successful development projects should work”, Peter Aamodt, Vice President of Development for Stirling Properties.
The larger 14,000 square foot store will have a drive thru window, a full service pharmacy, and will serve as a catalyst for future development to help revitalize an aging shopping center and retail corridor. Construction on the Metairie store is slated to begin in July and open in the first quarter of 2015. Stirling is providing pre-development services, including lease negotiation, permitting, financing, design, as well as construction and project management.
As a preferred developer for the Walgreens Company in the Gulf South, Stirling Properties has had a long-standing relationship with the retailer. Stirling Properties Celebrates Grand Opening of Full-Service Walgreens Drug Store on New Orleans Westbank
Earlier today Stirling Properties celebrated the opening of the new full-service Walgreens drugstore in Terrytown on the Westbank of New Orleans. The celebration was commemorated with a ceremonial cutting of the ribbon by Jefferson Parish Councilman Ricky Templet, Walgreens Representative Bill Hagoort and Stirling Properties Vice President of Development, Peter Aamodt. The Walgreens is located at the intersection of Terry Parkway and Carol Sue Avenue on the site of the former A&P Grocery/Eckerd Drug anchored shopping center.
“This project represents a cooperative effort between Stirling Properties and Jefferson Parish to bring back a distressed commercial property to prominence once again as a viable retail corner that will serve the people of Terrytown”, said Peter Aamodt, Vice President of Development for Stirling Properties.
The larger 17,384 square foot store has a drive thru window and full service pharmacy and will serve as a catalyst for future development to help revitalize an aging retail corridor. Stirling provided pre-development services, including lease negotiation, permitting, financing, design, as well as construction and project management.
As a preferred developer for the Walgreens Company in the Gulf South, Stirling Properties has had a long-standing relationship with the retailer.
